"Why We Love Polys"
Part 3

Rico
My love for Maine Coon polydactyl cats began in 1970 with my all time favorite, Queen of Sheba our first Maine Coon polydactyl black/silver with white female. We lived on a farm in Pennsylvania , she was not pedigree and had the free run of our 20 acre fields and woods, and she loved being outdoors. She was my best friend throughout my childhood, had the sweetest character, was super intelligent, we did everything together and Sheba was extremely handy with those big paws using them with precision and amazing dexterity.
She was an exceptional hunter, specializing in insects and keeping down the field mice population around the grain and occasionally come home with a bigger prize… one time even a jack rabbit as big as her! Luckily it was a sport for her and she never ate her prize just presented it outside the door as an offering, proudly showing off her skill. She became a wonderful mother and yes we had to keep a few of her poly kittens as the years passed, one daughter and two castrated sons, Mittens, Panda and Dummy. Together they were a wonderful bunch, more like brothers and sisters to me than cats
Sheba even waited for me to visit her one last time before passing peacefully, she was 17 years old. They were healthy robust cats and it was great to breed poly kittens always wondering what the next litter would bring. I still think back on those times as the golden years because when I went to the University I missed them so much and the cats I  have had over the last 20 years have been sweet but never comparable to my MCpolys.

Now I have a new poly to love, Rico P. a wonderful heavy boned silver poly male from France . I haven?t even met him yet but I am definitely in love?I think about him every day!  I wait with anticipation until he arrives?wondering what fun and animation he will bring in to our lives. I am looking forward to reliving my childhood so my children can enjoy their youth with poly Maine Coons as well! Polydactyl Maine Coons are just too special to allow them to become extinct!!! Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she created polys hundreds of years ago?
